So the issue, dearest, is that the reason scientists dismiss theories of four macroscopic dimensions as ‘woo woo’ and I’ve dealt with this for many years is that the issues stray quickly from hard observational measurements which is the bedrock of empirical scientific establishment which is quite extensive and was able to blow up Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The fourdimensional theorists, including myself, have the difficult task of justifying a four dimensional science on actual data rather than internal or metaphysical experiences, which I do take seriously but I agree with the scientists that too many crazy theories are floating around which are not quite supported by evidence. I think that ‘quantum woo woo’ is the biggest baloney in the world. But it’s the sort of baloney that did muster the tests of precise measurements and fitting of models. This is the key to understanding of a science can be sustained for four macroscopic spatial dimensions. I have found that the best evidence for four macro (electromagnetic) four dimensions is the observed crystal symmetries in nature of 5, 8, 10 and 12 fold. These are not possible in three macroscopic space dimensions while still being crystals by the Crystallographic Restriction Theorem (see

This theorem actually generalizes to all dimensions and simply classifies the rotational symmetries possible (the 8 pointed star is 8fold symmetry etc.) and tells us that 2,3,4, and 6 fold rotational symmetries are possible in three macroscopic space dimensions and these observed 5, 8, 10 and 12 fold symmetries are only possible in at least four macro space dimensions. This was highly contested territory in science and I emailed hundreds of people by 2009 and had a Facebook campaign when I was still with a decent loft in Williamsburg etc. and finally several years later they settled on giving the Nobel Prize in Chemistry to the guy whose work I had been quoting who discovered these anomalous rotational symmetries, an Israeli chemist Daniel Shechtman who got the prize for ‘discovering quasicrystals’. This is not in fact a discovery of any special type of material in the universe but I think pure fourdimensional crystal structures. These ‘quasicrystals’ are modeled as higher dimensional crystals projected to three dimensions anyway. So this is where this battle is the most serious rather than popularizers who are barred from the Fortress of Science.
